4/5/10 at 8:30am , NE corner of Isal Del Sol,
St Petersburg,Fl. I observed a group of men
in a boat marked (Marine Research) with the
name Miss Stacy, could not see the reg.#
set a large net along our beach, full speed
in the setting, calm waters and did not
observe the area for Manatees (this is a
migration route). They ended up netting a
Manatee, took 10 mim. to release. They quickly hauled up their net and left the area
never checking on whether the manatee was
hurt by the net or by the engine. As a retired
biology teacher having my students work with Tampa Bay Watch and planting over 120,000 Mangroves and grasses into Tampa
Bay, as an avid kayaker and fisherman I did
NOT like seeing this disregard for our animals
and sea-grass areas. I hope this is not the
policy or procedure being used to complete
fish counts.

Thank You.....Charles Tommelleo

This agency really has their act together. It's nice to be able to get a fishing license online, rather than wait IN line at KMart.

We were at Peanut Island over the 4th of July holiday and really appreciated the presence of this organization. They were friendly and courteous and helped make it a safe and enjoyable weekend.
